Dr. Alysia Harris

Alysia Nicole Harris is a poet, linguist, and Christian. She received her Ph.D. in linguistics from Yale University and her MFA in creative writing from NYU. Alysia is the author of the chapbook How Much We Must Have Looked Like Stars to Stars. She is a two-time Steven Dunn Poetry Prize Winner, two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, and winner of the 2015 New Women's Voices Poetry Series. In addition to garnering over 5 million views on YouTube, her poems have appeared in Callaloo, Best New Poets, Yes Yes, Offing, The Break-Beats Poets Anthology, and other publications. Alysia serves as arts and soul editor at Scalawag and is a regular arts contributor for Dallas Morning News. She currently lives in Corsicana, Texas.
