This piece of art is one I created for my collection entitled "See," back when I was finishing up my University degree. I started off with multiple composition sketches and color swatches before deciding on this specific movement. The most challenging aspect of creating it was- tying in the most relevant passages from the Bible that dealt with the message I hoped to bring across the most. My work often focuses on a spiritual and emotional growth in a person/people verses the decline in moral and compassionate choices in the world all placed amongst God's will found in His word.
The story of this particular piece dealt with the spiritual and physical destruction of the world in recent times and the level of the faith and relationship with God that Christians are called to grow towards to battle the moral decay in the coming of the end of days. As the scene breaks down around the piece, the three central figures either stand away and rise above the changing times or are broken down into it. It ties into the message of Ephesians 6:10-20 that tells us all to be ready for the battle to come, wearing our armor which encompasses the word, will, love and sacrifice of God. We are all called to be people of faith and compassion who have the ability through faith in Christ to change the hearts of all those who are trapped in the deceptive ways of the worlds.
Mr. Kenwyn Crichlow- who was my lecturer at the University of the West Indies and gave guidance and feedback on this piece.
