Artist bio

I am a Christian artist, who paints in watercolors, acrylics, oils, inks and mixed media. As a sculptor, I've spent years studying figurative sculpture with live models, working in stoneware and terracotta. Whenever I now sculpt, I prefer to work with colorful polymer clays. The Lord has blessed the work of my hands to be in numerous private and corporate collections around the world. Together with other artists, I co-owned a gallery in Dallas for about a decade. I'm also an author, writer, and creator of hand-drawn devotional coloring books available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online retailers. The Palm & Pen School for Christian Artists is my latest creative endeavor. It is a virtual online School offering free and paid Bible Studies to give artists a sound Biblical basis for using their creative gifts. All the good in my life is because of Jesus. I'm more passionate about Him than writing, art, design or creativity. I enjoy expressing visual praise to God for a redeemed, beautiful life.

How it fits into contest

I often wonder how many of us are aware of the magnificence of God's new covenant that Jesus ratified by His blood? I struggle to grasp the scope of it, because it is so vast!

Eph 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."

The many qualities of human frailty I possess are of no consequence, because I am strong "in the Lord", not independent of Him.
According to the terms of this precious covenant, I've been granted victory for every battle that I will ever face.

I find it fascinating that in the Bible a meal was included when a covenant was made, a time of fellowship at a table between those coming into agreement. Psalm 23 describes a table prepared for me. God seems to delight in inviting me to feast with Him in the presence of my enemies, when I would rather He banished them all!

I am awed that when David penned the Psalm, he had no idea that ultimate reason for confidence, would be the victory Jesus won on the cross against this enemy. The bread and wine of this meal remind me of this very truth!

So it is with calm confidence that I put on the full armor of God every day. My mind is peaceful with His salvation, I have on the breastplate of righteousness—my unrighteousness traded for His matchless purity. What a great exchange! The shield of faith, the sword of the spirit, and my feet shod with peace, are all so effortless, if I will believe.

This victory is played out in the context of this satisfying meal! I dine with Him—His bread is bountiful and my cup runneth over! I am filled with a peace that passes understanding. The enemy is unable to touch me.

There is intense warfare to enter that rest, to reach that place of perfect communion with my Father, to enjoy His banqueting table, to cease from self effort and to simply believe. That rest will not come without a ferocious struggle against demonic forces.

The Bible calls it "labour"!
Heb 4:11 "Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief"

The greatest danger I face is not from any scheme of the enemy, but failure to believe that the victory is already mine!
