Artist Statement

This piece is an intuitive painting. Intuitive painting is truly my favorite process for painting at this time in my life. The process allows me the freedom to play and discover while presenting an intention. I start with inviting the Holy Spirit into my creative space. Then I share by the whisper of the trouble on my mind, sometimes the cry of my heart and other times the joy of the day. Ephesians 6:10-20 was the intention and question shared with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is all knowing though; this piece quickly evolved as a shielding for an inner spiritual battle.
A sense of readiness revealed itself during the process.Together, the Holy Spirit and I uncovered images and texture through painting and my texture medium. Through "Painting with Fire as an Architect of Hope", I was given the space to be bravely inside the color, confidently feel the texture, and orchestrate the defending composition intuitively. This intuitive process while locating the inner core of my creative self, showed me how my art stands against the schemes of the devil. I have found that I cannot not create. Creating is how I put on the full Armour of God. Being brave enough to make the first marks, apply the colors that typically I may be shy of, and using solid heavy lines revealed a sense of architecture to me. Then He whispered back to me, You are called Hope; Hope is your name. Together, the Holy Spirit and I, we are architects of hope.
