Louise Cutler

Artist bio

Louise Cutler is a Fort Collins based Creationist, artist, vocalist, writer and sculptor. Her work is motivated by her desire to create beauty that cultivates truth, peace and tranquility. She considers one’s art an extension of one’s life. Her work, whether painting, drawing, writing, gardening, or performing is a visual or written translation of her life, feelings, and people she have encountered, places she have been, and things she have seen. Ms. Cutler’s paintings and sculptures combine her love of gardening, people and the great outdoors. Drawing has always come naturally for her; as a child, she drew continually. In grade school, her desk was filled with pencil and crayon drawings. Her imagination was her way of escaping some of the harsh realities of life while growing up in urban America. Ms. Cutler’s desire for peace and harmony is echoed throughout her work, something that was hard to achieve growing up in a family of nine. She States, “She believes the purpose of her paintings is to bring peace and serenity into a world where chaos has become the norm."

Artist Statement

My film/promotional was created to bring about change as well as to promote awareness. The film of this exhibition show a collection of art work that allows reflection without guilt, dialogue without judgement. It is and exhibition film for such a time as this. This was given to me a few years ago to create. At the time I was not sure why but now I know. This exhibition and film has been a process of over 6 years in the making. I would like to see it travel across the world to help promote unity and awareness.

How it fits into contest

The Great Cloud of Witnesses

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. This passage is from Hebrews 12:1 and it talks about the great cloud of witnesses from in Hebrews 11, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the rest of the Old Testament believers looked forward with faith to the coming of the Messiah.

Our forefathers, King, Malcolm, Harriet, and Rosa among others had their faith to guide and direct them. They held on to the hope that thing would get better for them, their children and future generations of blacks. These faithful men and women who paved the way for us, what they looked forward to Freedom, rights, and equalities, in faith we look back to, having seen some of the fulfillment of their work and progress.

These men and women of the past surround us in a unique way. It’s not that the faithful who have gone before us are spectators to the race we run. Rather, it is a figurative representation that means that we ought to act as if they were in sight and cheering us on to the same victory in life and faith that they obtained. We are to be inspired by the examples they have set during their lives. These are those whose past lives of faith and unyielding strength encourages us to live that way, as well. The cloud is referred to as “great” indicates that millions of believers, and revolutionaries, have gone before us, each bearing witness to the life of faith we now live.

I believe just as our biblical forefather picked up the banner of the Lord and put on the armer so to did our forefathers of this age in order to move forward and stand their ground against such great opposition.

Nobody Knows my Soul
I know you're reaping souls
That's why I reach for gold.
But in Chicago I keep a pose
I rather be judged by 12 then Carried by 6

Now as the sun goes down moon light gives light to the night
Fight or flight is the decision of life
wrong or right are you willing to sacrifice
cause its money over everything even you
I have done everything except to cross the crew
So what would you do to be the man with the juice
an if I told you the truth would it hang like a noose
would you gang bang to
would tell people you knew
would you always keep a pistol for people who hate you

As I ride through the city all I see is blue lights
I keep a gun with me the police aint right.
