Artist Statement

It is the story of a relationship that falls into the web of disagreements and gets entangled in resentment leading one of them, the man, to the path of infidelity, fortunately due to his line of work he must interview a psychologist who by coincidence will let him know that he has been part of a common scenario for a plot built by resentment and temptation to make him fall, now the man must win his battle and make the best decision for his relationship and for himself.

How it fits into contest

A common story shows us how small actions can take us to a conflictive spiritual battle, we see our main characters' marriage going downhill because of their actions of micro aggression. This work of art wants to emphasize the biblical text of 1 Corinthians 10:13, which goes hand in hand with Ephesians and the spiritual battle that says 'You have never been tempted to sin differently from other people. God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, he opens the way so that you do not fall into sin. In our story, the outlet comes across as the psychologist exposing her common experiences with what causes infidelity in relationships, making our main character realize the situation he's in.

From all the evil forces that can cause us a spiritual friction, we preferred to highlight the topic of conflict in relationships because it plays a very important role, family is the basic element of society, for us to create a home, we have to start by creating a good, strong and healthy relationship where communication, empathy and kindness are key, but as the psychologist says, this is easier said than done, we have the responsibility to create the necessary methods to overcome temptations and God is constantly training us and showing us where our actions can take us and at the same time showing us how to emerge victorious. We all have internal battles, we are all warriors and have our own internal conflicts, it is our duty to stand firm with God and his word to find clarity in our path and do our best to avoid being part of a common story of resentment and create a new story of love.

INT. INTERVIEW - DAY.
PSYCHOLOGIST (32), couple therapist, is being interviewed in
a show.

INTERVIEWER (O.S.)
Well doctor and since we are talking
about couples, tell us a little bit
about conflicts in relationship,
which are the common ones?

PSYCHOLOGIST
There are many conflictive situations
in relationships, recently I've been
working more with infidelity.

INTERVIEWER (O.S.)
...oh! That's...mmm, that's a big one
there, tell, tell us a little bit
about that.

PSYCHOLOGIST
A pretty common scenario is when
couples fight and most of the time
fights happen for the smallest of
things.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY
ISAAC and BIVIANA are arguing.

ISAAC (SUBTITLE)
So what if I don't want to visit your
family this weekend?
BIVIANA
Because you said that last time.
ISAAC
I talk to people all day I just want
time for myself.
BIVIANA
You always want everything for
yourself, I'm sick of you.
Biviana Leaves the house.

PSYCHOLOGIST(V.O.) Couples should make an effort to
communicate their feelings to each
other, but this is easier said then
done, when communication fails we
just stop understanding each other,
then resentment kicks in and from
there, problem starts.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - ROOM - DAY/NIGHT
Isaac is sitting at home, Biviana just got home, Isaac tries
to say hi but she ignores him, Isaac gets offended by her
attitude.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - ROOM - NIGHT
Isaac comes in and puts a jacket on. Biviana is on bed.

BIVIANA (SUBTITLE)
Is 10:30 where your going?

ISAAC
Isaac heads out, Biviana stands up and locks the door.

INT. BAR - NIGHT

PSYCHOLOGIST (V.O.)
Because they are offended, they begin
to attack each other, like kids, and
temptation is waiting for those
moments to lurk.

Isaac is sitting in a bar drinking a beer, he's about to
leave and a Girl is looking at him, he looks at her back but
he tries to hide his reaction, the girl pass by and leaves a
pice of paper with her number.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - ROOM FRONT DOOR - NIGHT
Isaac tries to open the door of his room, is locked, Biviana
is on bed, mad. Isaac lays on the couch, he is already
talking to the girl.

ISAAC (SUBTITLE)
Tomorrow sounds great, ill see you
after work.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - ROOM - DAY
Isaac puts on a suit and tie, ready to got to work and for
his date tonight.

INT. INTERVIEW - DAY.
We see that Isaac is the interviewer.

ISAAC
Any advice for anyone that may be
going through this?

Biviana sees Isaac on TV, she's still mad

PSYCHOLOGIST
Well for this I would like to quote a
biblical passage in Corinthians that
says, "No temptation has overtaken
you except what is common to mankind.
And God is faithful; he will not let
you be tempted beyond what you can
bear. But when you are tempted, he
will also provide a way out so that
you can endure it."I say this because
creating a relationship and therefore
a strong family is no easy task,
communication, patience and teamwork
is essential, disagreements,
resentment and temptations are
waiting patiently for us to fall,
many families have fallen apart for
these reasons, problems at home are
not going to go away, that's why
staying firm in the face of adversity
is the key.

Isaac keeps thinking, we see an epilogue on how things could have been different. Biviana read the part on the bible that the psychologist mentioned.

INTERVIEWER
Thank you for coming doctor.

INT. COUPLE'S HOUSE - ROOM FRONT DOOR - NIGHT
Isaac receives a message. "See you at 6", it's from the
other girl, Isaac turns off the phone, Biviana opens the
door, they stare at each other, they apologize and hug.
