Artist bio

Songwriter/poet, Sheena Keesha Palmer has a unique and definitive sound, crisp and other worldly, that begs close attention from the listener. Like her title single, her whole body of work commands the listener to give ear. Her words are heavy and the tone of her music even heavier, inciting pain, a “going through“, and redemptive joy. SheSpeaks in chords and instruments even without speaking. Whether in gritty and beautifully executed poetry, or soft bellows of melody, she is deeply introspective and quietly wise beyond her years. Her voice one that stays with you long after the song is finished, her words lingering on the palate to be savored and chewed slow. ⁣

Artist Statement

Life is filled with shades of blue
Saturations of suffering varying
Mild to moderate to severe
Down to debilitated to depressed
With hue-mans are overcasted with shadows of reality
But even in our darkest days truth trumps facts
So the blues won't fade us to black
Though we be grey
We are here
Still purposeful because we're the Light's reflection
Still colorful because the Light isn't absent
Still hopeful because 'the Light shines
And darkness cannot overcome it'

How it fits into contest

Give Ear is a cry for help (prayer) to God in light of adversity. The forces of darkness wage war daily on the mind, soul, and body of believers. For this reason every piece of the amour are vital weapons in the fight- offensive and defensive. However, without constant prayer in the Spirit (for ourselves and others) we won't obtain the fullness of power that's been made available to help us firmly stand our ground.

-Ephesians 6:18-20

Give ear unto my words
Consider all my groaning
Hear the sound of my cry
I pray to you God my King
God my King

Give ear unto my words
Consider all my groaning
Hear the sound of my cry
I pray to you God my King
God my King

In the morning
My soul will sing
My soul will sing
In the morning
I will prepare the offering

I-I-I
I know you hear me Lord

A Psalm of David
Chapter 5
To the choirmaster
For the flutes
Give ear to my words O Lord
Consider my groaning
Give attention to the sound of my cry
My King and my God
For to you do I pray
O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice
In the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch

Give ear
Give ear
I know you hear me Lord
Give ear
Give ear
I know you hear me Lord
Hear my groan
I-I-I am groaning God
