Artist Statement

The song begins with an outro asking, pleading for the saints in the world (those who know they are followers and those who have yet to come to the realization of Christ ) to wake up. The song is sung by an angelic being and it references 1 Peter 1:12 and Ephesians 5:14. The rest of the song goes on to ask the young boy as well as the viewing audience to become aware of their surroundings, opening their spiritual eyes and acknowledge that the world and its distractions are “loud” so to speak. There is an initial exposition of how humanity had fallen from grace and notes a few of the repercussions of the fall that are present today; excerpts are pulled from the Genesis story and Christ’s warnings from Matthew 24:6-8. The song caps off by reminding listeners that the issue is one of the heart and sin, a problem only God and his salvation in Christ can resolve.

How it fits into contest

This song fits into the Spiritual Battle found in by alerting the audience that the turmoil that they are witnessing today is not only physical but of a spiritual nature; “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”the spiritual warfare also takes place in both the mind and the heart to which the song points out, that the world is loud and distracting and operates on lies.

Transcript / Lyrics

Wake up, Wake up
Arise all those asleep in sin
Wake up Look up
The Word has been delivered and
Salvation, it cries of Christ
And even the angels look on

Would you wake up wake up
He’s calling you…

Chorus
Loud, Loud, Loud..
Turn the Music down
Who’s the man behind the screen, selling you a dream
Now, Now, Now
What’s she come to how
How did we lose when we were meant for better things?

Verse:
And the story begins,
Selfish ambition
Caught up in positions,
We were never meant to have all the while
Coward before the Maker
Realized nothing was Faker
And all the more enticing Satan’s smile
And now we co-exist
Some trying not to resist
Been deceived and yet
We think we know best
Glorifying our flaws and Ironically not in awe of the one who came and passed every test

Chorus:
Loud Loud Loud
Turn the Music down
Who’s the man behind the screen, selling you a dream
Now, Now, Now
What’s she come to how
How did we lose when we were meant for better things?
Ohh Loud, loud loud
Turn the music down
Who’s the man behind the screen,
Selling you some dreams,
OhH now now now
What’s He come to now
I hear rumours of war, but where’s my peace?
Bridge:
Nation against nation,
Despite all the peaceful protest
Not understanding that true war starts within
But who would be our Saviour?
None other than the Father
Who see our colors, but saves all from sin (x2)
Chorus:
Loud, Loud, Loud…
Turn the Music down
Who’s the man behind the screen, selling you a dream
Now, Now, Now
What’s she come to how
How did we lose when we were meant for better things? (x2)
Oh Lord, I know that we were made for so much more than this.
