Title

To Win the Battle of a War Already Won, I Keep the Whole Armor of God on.

Medium/Genre

Spoken Word

Artist Statement

This is a handsewn creation of the Armor of God. I wanted to leave a visual of a fashionable armor and using Rose Gold as the theme color.

How it fits into contest

The descriptions of using Ephesion 6:10-20 as instructions to family members of the addicts. The poem reflects feeling helpless when loved ones suffering from addiction but knowing it is spiritual warfare and how to protect themselves and give them hope. I want them to realize what their responsibility is and trust God.

Transcript / Lyrics

To Win the Battle of a War Already Won,
I Will Keep the Whole Armor of God On.

Put on the Belt of Truth around my core.
Lord, remove the strongholds of addictions on the child I bore.
The internal truth I will hold strong and praying the external lies of deceptions are soon gone.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the Belt of Truth On.

Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness.
This plate was given through the virtue of the cross.
My heart must be strengthened and protected at all costs.
In full surrender to my Lord Jesus Christ,
all my deep hurts of my husband ‘s disappearance on Friday nights.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the Breastplate of Righteousness On.

Put on the shoes of the Gospel of Peace.
It aligns my soul under the control of the Holy Spirit.
As the chaos of darkness comes in demanding,
I stand on my peace when I am commanding.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the shoes of the Gospel of Peace On.

Take up the Shield of Faith.
Believing and not seeing is my faith in action.
The belief in the deliverance for my loved ones will be my satisfaction.
All I need is faith the size of a mustard seed.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the Shield of Faith On.

Take up the Helmet of Salvation
Thoughts of lost battles of the past and of my loved one’s sobriety that didn’t last.
My mind must be protected to hear that small voice of God with love and trust.
While I am blocking the whispers of Satan’s doubts and fears is an absolute must.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the Helmet of Salvation On.

Take up the Sword of the Spirit.
It is the Word of God to meditate day and night.
I will not worry or even have to fight.
Agreement with the written word sends my heavenly angels to flight.
To win the battle of a war already won, I will keep the Sword of the Spirit On.

We are all victorious in a battle of a war already won,
When we all Keep the Whole Armor of God On.
