Artist bio

Cocoa has been an independent artist for nine years in China and has created over 300 pieces of original works ( Majority are Oil and acrylics ). She prefers abstract way because she realized that they can be more accurate to express the spiritual world. Cocoa has an extensive background in internet, advertising, spirituality, and art. She has been working as editor, project manager etc. in Internet companies for ten years. One day, she realized that business world was far away from her dreamy world. Then, she studied abroad in Loyola University, Chicago, The teaching and experience over there transformed her. Also, she figured out that her utmost dream was to be an artist so that to spread God’s love and beauty to the world. Therefore, she started to learn painting in 2011. One day, she got an "Ah-ha" moment when she was meditating before one of Rothko's works, it was like a magic that drawing her into it with great spiritual energy. That experience served as the catalyst that triggered her creativity. Since then, she started to create abstract works. The act of painting felt incredibly tranquil and emotionally freeing -- by pouring pigments to canvas, she felt like she was tapping into a creative place that she never knew. Meanwhile, she felt Holy Spirit was right there with her...Some paintings were turned out so amazing... She thinks some of them were not painted by her, but by the spirit. Her work is about transforming the unseen world into abstract paintings. Each piece begins with meditation, where she connected with God; by applying practices and imagination, step by step, she created a new universe on canvas. She just wants to pass on the love, beauty and energy from God to the world.

Accident--PTSD --Recovering --Overcoming
I had a car crush when I was driving on Oct, 15th, 2021. All of the sudden, my car was stopped! The air bag popped out!...I was astonished! I foresaw it coming in my subconscious because I painted (Painting No.1) just two hours before this accident. Fortunately, my body was not hurt at all. Oh! Thank God! God saved us definitely at that moment! ...
Nov, 9th, 2021 :It has been 23 days. My car was fixed, I drove it back. However, I just realized I got PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) because I was too scared to drive. I prayed a lot. Also, I asked help from my spiritual director and my best friend. Both of them cared about me and gave me some nice advice. I finally found my best solution: Cycling for 1-2 hours a day. I felt relax and free during the cycling. I was healed day by day. Finally, I drove 40 miles on Christmas day without fear. I felt totally fine and getting stronger than before through this challenge. God saved me again and strengthened me! Give thanks to God!
I really want to sing Psalm 23 with joy: Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
...You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Alleluia!

How it fits into contest

My experience resonates Ephesians 6:10,11 and 18,19: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil...18 [g]With all prayer and petition [h]pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, [i]be on the alert with all perseverance, 19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.“

I never complained during the process of this adversity nor other challenges, because I always felt God was with me and loved me. I could learn and grow from the past challenges. In my view, humans are easily get weak in difficulties, especially confronting with challenges from the devil. The devil may be from outside or from our inside. Prayer and faith in God are crutial for us to fight with devil and overcome ourselves, because we can only win through the power and love of God. Therefore, we shall keep alert and praying.
