Artist Statement

I paint with egg tempera, ground stone from mother earth, she has much to teach us in the way of peace, balance and beauty. The medium itself is food for meditation, the images have their origin in the ancient style of Byzantine iconography. Pure meditation and grace is found in the paint.

How it fits into contest

We are living in and through an error of poor thinking or even no thinking. ...For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil.. I see around me much discontent and fear. The images speak of being at the center of what impacts us on all sides. Strength of spirit and confidence in love will endure. I paint with egg tempera, ground stone from mother earth, she has much to teach us in the way of peace, balance and beauty.
