Artist bio

My name is Takisha G. Pitts and I am an artist who loves to work with different types of mediums, such as oil paints, acrylics, sketches and digital art as well. I have a bachelors of fine art degree from Northwestern State University, which I served as the art editor for the campus magazine, Argus. Following graduation I went on to work as the art editor for my city's local newspaper. Eventually my husband and I relocated from Louisiana to the state of Texas were we opened our first graphic design office, designing and printing marketing material for small business. I continued running the business for several years until I became pregnant with our second child and then I was faced with the decision on whether to stay home and be a full time mom or continue in the business. Needless to say, I choose to be a full time mom and close the doors to my business and that is when I rediscovered my true passion and purpose, Art. Here I am to today, doing what I truely love!

Artist Statement

My art piece is an acrylic painting on canvas that shows the struggle between good and evil.

How it fits into contest

My painting portrays the struggle in heavenly places between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. As the word of God says in Ephesians 6:10-20, that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm, that is what this work of art is reveling, by showing how the true battle is fought in the high places. The artist is revealing how the
chaos and destruction that we see on the earth is a result of what first takes place in the heavenly realm between the two spiritual forces, so in other words the natural world that we see is affected by the spiritual world that we do not see.

Credits

I would like to thank my Husband for all of his support in helping with our little ones, so I could have the time to create this work of art. I would also like to thank my 5 year old son, who encouraged me daily as I worked and my daughters who also cheered me on.
