Artist bio

A university student and an aspiring photographer, Shawn seeks to capture the world in the way God envisions it. Seeking to show hope in the darkness and love through lovelessness; to embody the light that is Jesus Christ; truth of his wise words. To remind everyone that even if it seems like everything is dark and its all over, it's not and its never hopeless or to late to work something out. Just talk to God, his son and his holy spirit, even a few words can open up your heart and crush the darkness and evil surrounding our spirits and plaguing our minds.

Artist Statement

I believe all of Jesus' teachings can be visually represented, captured and displayed in a way the world can see. In a way for them to understand and in a medium that can translate words to sight. That medium is photography.

Even when it all seems hopeless and everything looks dark. One must never stop communicating and building a fellowship with god. This photo shows a young hand holding on to, and nurturing a light that is surrounded by darkness. The young hand is attempting to protect the light within it, in a way, to put an armour around it. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” - Ephesians 6:11. The light represents the beacon of light that is Jesus Christ. His light that lives within us and must shine for all to see and feel the comforting warmth. This joyful light must be protected so that we may be fruitful all the days of our life on earth. In turn, so we can glorify and help our heavenly father to win souls for him and take it them from the devil (such is the spiritual battle). To protect this light, one must put on and fortify a spiritual armour “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” - Ephesians 6:12. The darkness represents these evil forces that one must battle every waking moment. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” - Ephesians 6:13 . Whether one likes it or not, the battle against evil is ongoing and we must fortify our spirit constantly to be able to withstand this war. Failure to do this can result in spiritual attacks and depression.
