Artist bio

I love photography since i was a little kid. But before i met Jesus, I don't see how beautiful the mother nature is. Now as a Christian for over 13 years, i always tell myself to use the 3rd eye that God gave me to serve Him and tell more people how beautiful life is from my artworks.

Artist Statement

I remember i capture this image in a summer retreat. That was a wonderful summer night, we sat down in a circle with our Pastor. We set up the camp fire under the milky way and start sharing. When I listening to our Pastor's story, my eyes look at the camp fire and I have a feeling to photograph it like the bible verse said,"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." (Romans 12:11). I tried few times in different shutter speed and finally got this image at 7 seconds long exposure in 3am. After the retreat, our Pastor retired and I printed this "fire cross" picture as a gift to him, and i wrote at the back of the frame," Never let your fire snub out to serve the Lord!" Amen.

How it fits into contest

I just read a children bible with my kids and it talks about light and dark. It said ,"God's light exposes the darkness."(Ephesians 5:11-13) "God's light protects."(Psalm 27:1) and "Darkness represents evil" (Proverbs 2:13-14) ,"Darkness makes us want to hide" (Genesis 3:10) We always has battle of ourselves inside our heart. Especially when we are in the dark, we scare unknowing, foolishness, punishment. Just like before we set up the camp fire at night, but once the fire is up, we can feel the warm and brightness. In verse 16 said "... you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." However, when we have God's word in our heart, we can transform negative (flaming arrows) into positive (flaming cross) in order to serve God better.
