Spiritual battle is a reoccurring theme in the music of Turnbridge Band. As three men who love God and aspire to share our faith through our art, we often face spiritual opposition in many forms. The battle is real to us, which compels us to stand strong in Christ and sing about the spiritual reality we all live in. We strengthen each other for the battle through God’s word. Our hope is that the songs we write do the same for others. We named our last album “How to Battle” because we believe our songs can help people turn to God through their struggles. Presently, we are in the final stages of our newest studio project. The song we are submitting will be on that upcoming album. It is titled “Heat of the Battle” and we are excited to present it to the Engage Art Contest.
We wrote “Heat of the Battle” as a wake-up call to those unaware or unconcerned about the invisible, spiritual battle we face every day. There is urgency to Paul’s words in Ephesians 6 for us to awaken to this reality and to armor up. His message is still relevant today. We shaped the driving beat and intense sounding guitar to sonically express that urgency.
Our song is also an anthem to encourage the church to armor up, stand firm in the faith, and proclaim the truth fearlessly. No matter how much the enemy tries to stop the church from proclaiming the truth, we have to speak out about the unseen battle we are all born into, and our need for salvation. Though the fight is more than we can handle on our own, we are always victorious through Christ, Jesus!
