Artist Statement

Exe. 26:31
Make a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen with cherubim worked in to it by a skilled craftsman.
This piece is to represent The Curtain being torn from top to bottom.
Canvas is used to build up layers and then stretched to a frame to make them look like a thick curtain. Gesso is used to prepare the surface, including the torn edges. Acrylic paint is used to give a tapestry-like look.

How it fits into contest

Mat. 27:51
At that moment the Curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
This piece is an imagining of the curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies being torn in two from top to bottom at Jesus death, representing the end of the Old Covenant and the opening of direct ACCESS to God.
