I teach art full time at a middle school in the Cincinnati area and love creating artwork in my free time. I work in a variety of mediums and techniques and feel this allows my skills to sharpen and better instruct my students. I primarily work in acrylic paints and prismacolor pencils. I often combine mediums to achieve a desired effect. My artwork has been published in books and calendars and I have been awarded prizes in numerous design contests, most recently the winner of the Summerfair poster contest in Cincinnati, OH. (a premier arts festival in the US.) I have commissioned works on display in area businesses and have also contributed to many public art displays. Recently, I have been compelled to create more scripture-inspired pieces and spend much more creative time in the Word. One of my original works, "The Parable of the Mustard Seed" has been used in many places around the world to teach the powerful message. Sharing my talent to help teach others Christ's message is so fulfilling! I am inspired by the glorious earth that God has created for us. I often find myself looking at the "little things" that I find interesting. Whether it be the texture on the bark of a tree, the way the sunlight passes through a delicate flower petal, or the veins along the neck of a horse. Often I have a camera in tow, and will snap pictures of these things I see. It is not unusual for me to use photos I have taken as inspiration for my art. I feel blessed that God has given me this talent to capture His wonderful creations in my own unique way. I believe that we are called to be good stewards of the temporary home he has created for us and I hope my art inspires that. Job 12: 7-10
