Vera Jones

Bio

My name is Vera Jones, affectionately known as Vee. I am the owner of VeeHappyStudios, LLC. My heart's desire is to help those who are suffering from, sadness, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and loneliness.

Loneliness is a big one for me as I was once there but I have overcome by the word of God. The artwork that I am submitting represents Christ at the center of my life Luke 9:23, and God's faithfulness as he has blessed me with friends after I overcame loneliness, sadness, and suicidal thoughts through meditating of scriptures to include John 15:5, John 8:31-32, John 15:7, John 13:34-35, John 15:8, John 15:13 and Ephesians 6:10-18 all while attending the MasterLife course through DDS (Divine Discipleship for Sisters) at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Landover, MD 20785.

PTSD is another big one for me as I have lost two family members, my Dad and my nephew who both served in the military and lost their lives as a result of PTSD.

After my husband and I separated and later divorced. I would affirm myself saying, "Vera" just Vee happy girl. Through prayer God heard me and my "husband" and I have remarried, celebrating 30+ years. Once again, I had to affirm myself after losing my job, telling myself, "Vera, just Vee happy".

With an Associate of Arts degree, while unemployed and as a result of my love and passion for art, VeeHappy Studios, LLC was birth. I have facilitated many paint parties and hosted many paint sessions with civilians and the military alike and during those moments, I would hear the participants say, "This is so therapeutic!" so God placed it on my heart to focus on those who are in need of relief through art.

If I'm selected as the winner under the Visual Arts category, I would take the winnings and open several VeeHappy art studios, offering support service through Art Therapy, Art Meditation, and Art Yoga to those suffering from, sadness, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and loneliness as I relax not everyone likes to talk about their problems but can find great benefits through art.
