Bio

Ugandan visual artist MARTIN SSEKIDDE creates scripturally inspired works in color pencils and ballpoint pen that explore faith, resilience and purpose of living. His works aim to infuse hope in the human soul, encourage, build mental strength and explore who we are created to be. Through extracting ancient biblical truths and questioning beliefs he aims to portray the promises and principles of the kingdom of God. Though gifted in art, societal influences pushed him toward computer studies after high school. When financial constraints blocked his academic path, divine providence redirected him and his overlooked artistic talent became his sustenance and gateway back to university. Multiple art achievements including the American Art Award “best of show” have grounded his narratives in the truth that God makes all things work out for good to all those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. The Skybreaker moniker reflects his mission to shatter limitations through art. Rooted in scripture and his work has been recognized by World Art Awards, British Council, Street Lights, Nkumba university and the Buganda Kingdom under Nnabagereka Development Foundation.
