This artwork is a 100cm by 100 cm color pencil drawing on paper and part of my recent juxtaposition and realism series named ILLUMINATION. They aim to bring truth as it is the Light on how we are supposed to walk in dominion in the kingdom of God. I created this particular drawing to encourage us that even in the stormy hard times as a believer God uses the situations to refine us, to shine and become even stronger. Pure gold is refined by great fire, diamond formed through intense pressure and so are all the men of great faith even in the bible. the subject on the right seems weak, his lamp is blown out and rusty, he is sweaty and dressed ordinarily while the subject on the left is diamond like, shining bright and dressed in royal apparel with glitters. I portray the subject on the left as the possible refined version of the weary one on the right, trying to remind the weaker self through whatever troubles he is going through how strong he could get and the crown of staying with God. The two subjects are actually one person portrayed in their two possibilities. The strengthened subject has Isaiah 40:29 engraved on the right arm bangle in hebrew and it is the pillar on which the drawing stands. The subjects's skin texture is diamond-like suggesting that they have gone through a formation to a stronger self. As I took progress shots of this drawing, some of my friends saw the two subjects as arm wrestling more instead and it brought me to a question; Is it that we struggle and arm wrestle through this process more than we do to submit to God's forming of our possible selves?
The scripture that inspired the making of this drawing is Isaiah 40:29 "He gives power to the weak and to those that have no might he increases strength" but for deeper context when we drop back to the verse 27 of the same chapter, the people question why God has disregarded their just claims and why their way is hidden from the Lord. we all have faced these situations where God seems so far from us and it looks like He isnt concerned about the troubles we are facing yet we have endeavored to do right. I didnt understand this deeper until I started to walk in purity, pray every day intentionally and give my self for church ministry; and then I got spiritually attacked by demonic spirits that couldn't let me sleep in the night. It was understandable before when I lived an intentional sinful life that the devil capitalised on my lawlessness but now that I had given my whole self to this new life and to Him, I was so dissapointed and complained (self righteous). but it was this season that God ignited my understanding about breaking generational evil convenants and that life is not only about self righteousness even when its as filthy rugs. When I finally chose to humble myself the Lord filled me with wisdom to repent and power of resilience to pray for my bloodline. This rescued me from the oppression of the devil through his accusations. when I had lost might, God increased my strength and I came out wiser and refined in faith. God taught me to honour people that stand by us in trouble and that the way I renew my strength in these times is not to complain but draw closer to God to form me in the process.
God for enabling me create this from expereience.
