This is a 24x24 oil on canvas. I was inspired by a photo reference I had of a woman on a rock which led me to paint this painting. I wanted this to speak to those who may be going through storms in life that they can find refuge in God! I painted the foreground in more subdued colours to represent a valley season. I felt to paint her hair blowing in the wind giving the feeling of struggle. Yet she is planted on the rock in a posture of prayer.

The scripture passage I chose for this is psalm 62:1-2 Find rest, O my soul in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and salvation: He is my fortress, I’ll never be shaken.

I love psalm 62 It’s a scripture passage that provides peace and strength when going through hard seasons in life. I feel the artwork depicts this beautifully with how the Woman is planted on the rock, with a posture of prayer. She is finding her strength and refuge in the Lord. Though the winds blow she will not be shaken.
