ARTIST PROFILE
Harlie McCurley is a visual artist who works primarily with paint and fiber. Born in the foothills of Southern Appalachia, she utilizes Appalachian native species, landscapes, and southern culture to influence her work. She has exhibited throughout the United States including at the Southern Highland Craft Guild Folk Arts Center in North Carolina and the Hudson Valley Seed Company’s Art of the Heirloom Seed exhibition in California. McCurley was chosen as a teaching assistant at the John C. Campbell Folk School and has had her arts-based research published through an Appalachian Regional Commission grant. She received her B.A. in Visual Art from the University of North Georgia.
