This particular work was done during a Christmas worship event at our church. I'm still wrestling with calling myself an artist and the story behind this piece coming together is a reminder of the importance of being a vessel for God to create through you. Although there was some reference material and techniques I looked into, there wasn't much practice as this was done live. I knew what I wanted to have displayed but God had other plans. The week leading up to the event was filled with distractions so I couldn't focus. The day of also had it's share of obstacles that caused me to get there later than I wanted to. Needless to say, I was not in a head space to create but it was showtime. I remember praying for God to use me because I was empty.
This piece is based on Matthew 2 and the account of the Magi seeing and following the star that would lead them to Jesus. This is a depiction of the formulation of the star that would lead the Magi. It had to be a special creation and a star like no other. This is my reimagining elements being transformed and coming together to signify the Savior is here!
