Based upon the Scripture: "Tell the people: 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The LORD heard you when you wailed, "If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!" Now the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat it. You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, but for a whole month--until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it--because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?” Numbers 11: 18-20
In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them. Psalm 106:14
The children of Israel were freed from bondage to a cruel task-master, just like we, too, can be set free from our prisons. They were sustained in their wilderness journey with water and manna (the bread and the cup). However, they craved something more- quail meat. They got what they craved, but also acquired soul-cancer. God said that the craved-for meat would come out their noses (notice the feathers in the figure’s nose). So it is with our addictive cravings. We lust after what looks enticing and we ultimately waste away. Our spiritual battle is with Satan, the world, and our own fleshly cravings. He breaks addictions.
