I am a self taught artist who had laid down art for career pursuits but as I was interceding with teams, I continued to receive pictures which were difficult to explain with words and I knew I was to paint these visions to bring them here on earth as it is in heaven. Most of my paintings have come as a result of meditating on scriptures.

Artist Statement

This painting was conceived in preparation for a Christian conference where I would be painting live among a diverse community of speakers and attendees representing different denominations, races, and generations. As I prayed about what Yahweh desired me to paint, I found myself meditating on unity and the Hebrew word Echad—oneness—found in Deuteronomy 6:4 and echoed throughout scripture. Though unity was not the stated theme of the event, I sensed it was God’s heart for the gathering. I was drawn to the mystery and strength of unity that does not erase difference, but is instead made radiant by diversity.

I envisioned intertwined hands as a visual language for this concept. Their circular movement forms a Fibonacci spiral, symbolizing the synergistic power that arises when many become one. The spiral reflects both natural order and divine design, suggesting growth, harmony, and an unseen intelligence at work.

The hands are rendered in deep, dark tones, inspired by the biblical phrase “dark yet lovely.” Within and around them, vibrant colors unfold—each hue representing individuality and diversity. Rather than isolating light on the surface of the hands, the brightest illumination emanates from the points where the hands touch. This choice was intentional and symbolic.

In the natural world, overlapping forms often create shadow. Here, light is born from connection. This inversion reflects a recurring spiritual paradox: the ways of the Kingdom often stand in contrast to the ways of the world. Unity, in this vision, is not passive or uniform—it is luminous, generative, and transformative.

My process is intuitive and layered, allowing color, movement, and contrast to reveal meaning as the painting unfolds. This work is both a meditation and an invitation—to see unity not as sameness, but as sacred convergence.

How it fits into contest

The scriptures that shaped this work speak collectively to a unity that reflects the very nature of God. Deuteronomy 6:4 declares the Lord as Echad—one—establishing oneness as a relational and dynamic wholeness rather than uniformity. This understanding forms the foundation of the painting.

In John 17:20–23, Jesus prays that believers would share in the same unity He shares with the Father. This prayer informed my use of intertwined hands—distinct yet inseparable—moving together in a single, flowing form. Their spiral motion suggests a living unity that is active and generative.

Paul’s writings further deepen this vision of oneness. Ephesians 4 and 1 Corinthians 12 speak of one body animated by one Spirit, while Galatians 3:28 affirms unity across differences of race, status, and gender. These ideas are reflected in the diverse colors woven throughout the composition, each retaining its identity while contributing to the whole.

Acts 4:32 describes a community of “one heart and one soul.” This passage guided my decision to place the brightest light at the point of connection, suggesting that unity itself becomes a source of illumination. In this work, oneness is not merely symbolic—it is transformative.
