I wanted to show the importance of baptism. We must reject the devil and follow Jesus Christ. I love that I still have my baptismal candle. It is a reminder to let your light shine. Everyone who is baptized has been adopted as a beloved daughter or son and each one has a light. It makes me think about how we all have a light to let shine. I was baptized as a baby, but the day I was baptized is precious to me. And in the Catholic Church we renew our vows and it is very powerful. Each life is like a little flame and all together we shine brightly.
My artwork relates to Ephesians 6:10-20 through the warrior with armor and the sword. The warrior is praying the rosary. Prayer is so important in the battle against evil. The rosary is the divine weapon. And there is a bombardment of arrows which are the attacks of the devil. The warrior is surrounded by the flame which could symbolize how one must be on fire with the Holy Spirit. The warrior is also purified by the flame the Holy Spirit and is able to resist the attacks of the devil.
