Artist bio

I am a Christian cartoonist from Canada, and I draw comics and illustrations. I use inks, pens, and markers to create most of my work. I am a college student taking a bachelor’s degree program in Biblical studies so that I can integrate truth into my artwork. I also take art courses to further my drawing skills to better communicate through art. I am currently working on a graphic novel (a long-form comic book) that I intend to publish. When I am not cartooning, reading comics, or at work, I am spending time with my family and our many pets.

Artist Statement

This single-page comic illustrates Ephesians 6:12 and was created using ink and markers on 11 x 14-inch paper. I chose this verse as my topic because I wanted to express how evil can affect our minds, and how important it is to share with others the truth of the spiritual battle. I illustrated this piece in comic form to share how simply the Bible can be communicated in a fun and easy to read manner. I believe comics like this can be used to explain Biblical truths to a wide audience.

How it fits into contest

This piece uses one of the contest theme verses and shows how the spiritual battle is not a physical battle, but a battle within our minds. Every day, everywhere, we fight a mental, spiritual war against evil forces.
