Artist bio

I am Gale Jordan from the beautiful Caribbean twin island of Trinidad and Tobago. I first realized my passion for art at the age of 5, and never looked back. I am a visual artist specializing in Pyrography. I believe my talent to be gift from God to magnify His name. My aim is to use my gift to help others realize their own gifts, and grab hold of their ordained purpose, that they may join in partnering with Christ to finish the work of spreading the Gospel to all the world. I am now self employed doing art and facilitating workshops for children and adults.

Artist Statement

This piece was burnt on cedar wood and measures 17cm wide by 28cm length without frame.
Duration for burning... 28 hours.
This piece was inspired by the first chapter of the book of John which reveals Christ as the creator. This truth to me awesome. Many people see Him as only a prophet, but He was more that that. The model is my daughter, and the lamp is an item I actually own. A photo was taken, and used for refference. The piece is first drawn on the wood with pencil, then burnt with an electrical burning pen, using techniques adapted from shading. The darker ares are the burnt ares, while everything light is the color of the actual wood.

How it fits into contest

John 1: 3
Jesus, the creator of this world as explained in the 1st chapter in the book of John, came into this world as a light, and was not understood or accepted. His light was viewed as darkness. Today His light continues to shine and spread throughout the world, bringing light, bringing understanding, showing us the path and revealing the true character of God, and his son, pointing souls in darkness to His marvelous light, to salvation.

Credits

I wish thank my daughter Regine Clement, who was the model used in this piece.
