Artist Statement

Inspired by Ezekiel 36:26, this work is a prayer made visible. The passage speaks of God removing a heart of stone and replacing it with a heart of flesh—a transformation from hardness to tenderness, from resistance to responsiveness. In this piece, the crackling material symbolizes the breaking apart of that stony heart. What appears fractured is not destruction, but restoration: the moment when rigidity gives way to vulnerability. The work reflects my personal plea to God to soften my heart, to make it receptive again—alive, pliable, and capable of renewal.

How it fits into contest

Drawing from Ezekiel 36:26, this piece represents a personal prayer for transformation. This is the breaking down of my rebellion and pride. This is God doing a new thing.
