The poui tree is a large tree that usually bears pink or yellow flowers for a season in the tropics before losing its leaves for the rest of the year. Even in the midst of very little moisture it grows, resistant to most insects and pests. It blooms brightly often towering over other trees.
The poui stands tall, even as the grass and soils has been cleared around it, making it resilient even in the face of pests and strong winds. Like an armor, the poui tree provide much shade and can protect the denizens of animals and plants that exist below it.
