Artist bio

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Art from St. Mary's College of Maryland, graduating with honors in 1987. Shortly thereafter I began an 18-year career in graphic design and printing for a church involved in local and international Christian ministry. VCF/GWWM had their own print shop and I managed the design work and pre-press production for numerous departments and outreach ministries. I completed my graphic design training at Delaware College of Art and Design and also created and led the "Young Artist Group" for children aged 5-12 which met at the church.

Artist Statement

The mystery of creation is in our very being. Made in the image of our loving Creator, we're ALL creative, and have our own unique, beautiful gifts to discover, enjoy and share with others!

How it fits into contest

Rev. Bob Meeker, our pastor, commissioned me to depict this "vision" God had given him. Based on Ephesians 6:10-20, Pastor Bob gave me very specific details of the vision he had of a soldier armed for spiritual battle. He described the position of the warrior, his sword, helmet, and shield, etc.. He was very patient as it was quite a challenge for me! This is a 20" x 24" mixed media piece done with watercolor, marker, cut paper, and aluminum foil.
