"Protected" is a visual representation of the armor of God, as we stand in the battlefield against the powers of darkness. The metaphors in Ephesians 6:10-20 are illustrated to bring to life the admonition to don this armor in the fight against the enemy.
The shield, sword, belt, breastplate and helmet are all included, and there are additional elements that represent God's protection on the battlefield: The shield is anchored to the "Tree of Life" - its roots that represent standing firm on God's word, and the branches that symbolize spreading the Gospel far and wide.
The Spirit of God is wrapped around the defences, reminding us that we are only protected through prayer, by God's grace.
