Artist bio

I am a digital artist, curator, and scholar. My research encompasses visual art, technology, and spirituality. Topics I have taught at the Department of the History of Architecture at the University of Florence. In 2014, I was invited by Rem Koolhaas to present my work through a video installation at the XIV Biennale of Architecture of Venice. Currently, I am the Curator of Digital Initiatives of the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William & Mary.

Artist Statement

This video projection reproduces a structure in the foreground and a sequence of heavens in motion (from starry heaven to a sky that becomes a shining light) in the background. The viewer will discover that this mysterious monolith reproduces the hidden architecture that Michelangelo painted on the Sistine Ceiling.
The artist painted this architecture to frame (to "put on the full armor of God") the sacred scenes. This work will be for the viewers a mystical experience. Visitors should view the video projection from below. Looking up to the Universe expands the horizons towards spirituality, the unknown, and the unmanifested. Nowadays, we are always with our heads down checking our digital devices. It is a passive attitude that is not stimulating our creativity.
We must glance up to be present, to be still, to win our Spiritual Battle, so we "can take our stand...against the powers of this dark world."
