Artist Statement

This is a portrait of an angel with different colored wings. The angel is standing in front of a starry sky. Above the angel is a personified portrait of the Sun and the Wind blowing air. The angel has a heart pierced with two arrows. The angel has a shield with a peace sign on it, and a sword that is showing on the canvas in the shape of a cross. The painting is made with spray paint and acrylic paint on canvas. The spray paint is dripping from his eyes. The dripping imitates tears. The tears show sadness the angel felt in reaction to what he has seen. The angels represents a light in the darkness.

How it fits into contest

The angel represents the spiritual aspect of man, or the armor of God. The starry heavens represent dark spiritual aspects. The heart pierced with arrows represents the flaming arrows of the evil one. The angel's halo represents the helmet of salvation. The sword of spirit is a sword that shows as a cross in the picture. The shield of faith is represented by the shield the angel carries. The angel represents a light in the darkness.
