I painted this when I felt an urgent need to pray for protection in general - for people around me, for the church, for my family. So, I was walking around the house praying for God's protection and presence. I remembered an incident from Bible and I decided I should paint it. I started with my regular watercolors and I was trying to paint what I had already thought of in my mind. The outcome looked very bad and I wanted to quit painting. I was praying that if there was any prophetic significance then God would help me paint. Soon, I felt like I should pick up my acrylic paints and paint with my fingers. I kept praying that God would control my fingers like the rat controls the novice chef's hands in the movie Ratatouli. Guess what appeared on my paper? For the record, this was the first time I was using my fingers to paint. The battle belongs to the Lord and God has an army of angels at His disposal to help us. During all kind of spiritual battles, we have an army fighting for us. When we put on the full armor of God and take shelter under the shadow of the Almighty, He moves His powerful army for us.
“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”
2 Kings 6:16
This painting recognizes that the spiritual warfare is real and that we have an army of Angels fighting on our side. We like Elisha, can take a bold stand against our enemy knowing that there are more on our side. In Ephesians, we are called to put on the full armor of God. We protect ourselves with the armor, we use God's words as our sword and the Lord of Heaven's Armies moves on our behalf to fight our battles.
