Artist bio

Mary Harris just started to devote time to art in 2019. The favorite types of paintings she does will portray a scriptural story. These personally are a remaindered of where hope comes from and keeps her feet firmly planted. The "Snake on the Pole" shook me when I sat and pondered it. Complaining brings in more problems, life and death. If I was in the camp with my babies would I be fighting in my own strength or obeying the command, to keep my eyes above. In painting this I realized even the seemingly most pious were not obeying the command. There is only one way to Salvation, through Jesus who was lifted up on a pole.

Pastel on Black Paper 8"x10"

In the deepest darkness of the Whittier Tunnel in Alaska light still overcomes the darkness.

How it fits into contest

It has been a dark year or two. But we are never alone in the battle. Jesus is the light by our side. We can trust and lean on to get us though the darkest hour.
