My name is Rebecca Rankin. I create art to spread the Gospel and further my knowledge and devotion to the Lord. I recently found a like to using charcoal and paints together. While I love experimenting with various media, I want all my work to builds God's Kingdom. As Matthew 5:13 says “(we) are the salt of the earth…”, therefore we are “to go and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19.

Artist Statement

The piece,Son Rise, is about the the breaking forth of the day/light. The man is in the basket is in search for the best path. As the sun illuminates truth; it is clear which way to travel. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

How it fits into contest

The piece Son Rise is the lifting off of one’s journey. The man decides his identity by the path he chooses. As Proverbs 3:5-6 says we are to “submit to Him… and He will make out paths straight.” God leads us to the Way. “You make known to me the path of life.” (Psalms 16:11) The wisdom that leads us to Christ is narrow, but it is guided. (Deuteronomy 31:6.) Each day we get closer to the Son as the darkness/ the shifting shadows fade away.
