Artist Statement

In the dance, which is titled 'Getting Ready', the process allows the dancers to dedicate their movements to God, and treat the dance as a way to express their love for God. They were instructed not to focus on the dance as performance but as worship. Although the dancers express emotion physically, this dance allows them to unite the body and spirit. The process involved recognizing the importance of dance as an art form which can also be used to express culturally situated feelings, beliefs, experiences and world views.
