Artist Statement

Writing song is just the same process as my improv_voice _chant_diary, Million Breath.
Make yourself free, just need some more time for the editing process.
To make sure, if I feel is right to myself.
For the song “Face the Changes”,
I used the footage clips from my improv_voice_chant diary.
Which would be perfect to depict what is behind the song.

Just an hour before Valentine’s day last year 2021, I saw the news the earthquake hit the northern part of Japan.
Immediately, it reminds me of 10 years ago earthquake on 3-11-2011.
So many lives had been taken away, so many people were forced to change their lives.
So am I.
When I heard about this earthquake, my nervous system responded. I was shaking.
Breath in, Breath out. No thinking. Just sing.
Start doing my daily chant, and suddenly, the melody I wrote 10 years ago came back to me.

I wrote this song soon after the earthquake in 2011, to encourage myself to face the changes in my life.
The time I decided to relocate to the US.
Now during this year in a pandemic, I rewrote the lyric to make more sense to me, now.

How it fits into contest

Come and sit for a while
And tell me ‘bout
Tell me about your life in town since I’ve been gone Do you know how much it means more than I can say I hope someday you find a place you belong
Somehow, someway
We can change
Now we’re living in a world of fools Breaking us down
Lost in life and we’re just waiting For us to turn and see changes
Come and sit for a while
And close your eyes
Can you feel all the love that we used to share
Or feel the wind thats sings like how we used to do I know we’ll find a better place for us somewhere
Somehow, someway
We can change
Now we’re living in a world of fools Breaking us down
Lost in life and we’re just waiting For us to turn and see changes
Built my own world around you, come and hold my hand,
you'll be watching me, I'll be there for you
Now we’re living in a world of fools Breaking us down
Lost in love,we’re not waiting
Now,we’re facing all the changes Someday we’ll find somewhere we belong
