Artist bio

Karen Vrooman is a 56 year old Artist from Brewerton, NY now residing in Murfreesboro, TN. After majoring in art at high school, she took correspondence courses in Photography and Graphic Art while raising two children as a single mom. These days she combines the two by taking pictures with her cell phone and creating digital abstract artwork out of them. Much of her work is based on her strong Christian faith, often depicting spiritual themes and ideas as God leads her to do.

Artist Statement

This was my idea of Jesus leading his followers (who look a lot like Him) into spiritual battle. It is one of three different "takes" on a similar theme.

How it fits into contest

This work shows Jesus as moving in a heavenly realm in power. He doesn't carry a cross anymore, yet there are banners waving and the movement of His followers gathering behind Him as He leads them into every unknown battle ahead.
