“He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 10:23 NKJV Hello, my name is Tracy B. Reynolds and I am an artist, writer, teacher, and minister of the gospel. I am grateful that God has given me a unique mix of gifts and talents to fulfill His purposes but most of all that I am, by the grace of God a survivor and an overcomer. My favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” I was born in Long Island, NY, raised in a small town in West Virginia and currently live in North Carolina. Everything that I have accomplished has been by God’s grace and mercy. I am truly a poor girl from West Virginia and should not be where I am today. Not saying that I have done a lot but from where I have come from it is indeed a miracle. I received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from West Virginia University and then relocated to Charlotte, NC. I’ve worked as a muralist, portrait artist, and art teacher. I founded Blessed Heart Art, L.L.C. an art business that specializes in Christian products. I love painting and teaching art to young children and adults but also have a passion for literacy. Therefore, I pursued and received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Piedmont Community College. I have worked as an Early Childhood Education professional for over 19 years. With a passion for biblical literacy, I plan to create tools for preschool children and parents to increase their understanding of God’s purpose in their lives. My journey as a leader and minister of the gospel began in 2003 when I received my minister’s license at The Park Church in Charlotte, NC. While serving at The Park, I founded The V.I.E.W., a visual arts ministry for youth and adults that provided free art classes and services for community programs; organized a Leadership Training and Development Program for high school students, and served as a lay counselor and small group facilitator. I was also a missionary to New Orleans, LA, Kenya, East Africa, and Jamaica, West Indies. During this time, I also pursued and received a Master of Divinity degree, as well as a Certificate in Urban Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. I currently serve as a licensed minister at New Beginnings Church under the dynamic leadership of Rev. Dr. Michael L. Henderson Sr. and Rev. Dr. Twanna Henderson. I also serve on the Counseling, Intercessory Prayer, and Cancer Care ministries. In my spare time, I enjoy writing and encouraging women through my blog onfirefemale.com, cooking, and physical fitness. I am a certified AFAA instructor, Women’s Fitness Specialist, and 3-time Sprint Triathlete. I also enjoy serving the community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. "This is the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:23-24 N/A

Artist Statement

The title of this painting is Women in The Word. It is my interpretation of a woman in a church, standing next to a picture, a stained glass window that portrays images of stories from the bible where women overcame obstacles and warfare to be obedient and honor God. It is the first painting from a series about women in the bible that I am creating. As well as presenting artwork my desire is for the pieces to be used to encourage conversations about the bible stories and lead to bible studies that will explore the life and testimony of the women portrayed. The woman reading the bible represents a modern-day woman, learning the truth about her history from these stories and finding a true understanding of what she is capable of being; a woman used by God that can change the world. It is about making the connection that God wants to work in our lives the same way he worked in the lives of women in the past. We have to be obedient and spiritually prepared which requires putting on the whole armor of God.

How it fits into contest

In the text Ephesians 6:10-20 verse 17b says, “And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”. My focus in this painting is obedience to studying the Word of God. In this painting, we have women that God chose to fight spiritual battles that changed situations, perspectives and the world. You cannot win a spiritual battle without being obedient to what God has spoken to you or to God’s written word. When dealing with spiritual battles, it is empowering to know the stories that show how God delivered His children in the past. All the women in this painting can be used as examples of putting on the armor of God for a spiritual battle. They all had to in different ways. I wanted to provide a variety of situations, that gave a different perspective of a spiritual battle and how they prevailed. All of these lessons a modern-day woman can learn if she studies the bible, as the woman at church in this painting. They will know how to walk in obedience and fight spiritual battles using, “The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
