These verses emphasize the importance of not only listening to God's Word but also living it. We cannot rely on our wisdom, but we must hear what the Bible says. This verse from Psalm 119 embodies the wisdom we receive from reading the Bible. This verse reveals the truth - to live like a Christian means to live like Christ, who lived perfectly under God's guidance. Relying on God's Word is the only way to live a successful Christian life. There are many temptations and confusing ways in the world, but as we keep our eyes on the living Word of God, Christ, our path is always enlightened.

The sixth piece of God's armor is the sword of the spirit, which represents the Word of God. For a Roman soldier, the sword served as an offensive weapon. In the God's armor list the sword is the only offensive weapon, then it must be the only offensive weapon for us too. We use God's Word to build ourselves and others, to bring God's will and His kingdom to earth, and to stand against the enemy.

For the word of God is living and active and full of power, making it operative, energizing, and effective. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit and the deepest parts of our nature, exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
