Artist bio

Hello my name is Tracy B. Reynolds and I am an artist, writer, teacher and minister of the gospel. I grateful that God has given me a unique mix of gifts and talents to fulfill His purposes but most of all that I am, by the grace of God a survivor and an overcomer. I was born in Long Island, NY, raised in a small town in West Virginia. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from West Virginia University and then relocated to Charlotte, NC. I’ve worked as a muralist, portrait artist, and art teacher. I founded Blessed Heart Art, L.L.C. an art business that specializes in Christian themed art. I love teaching art to young children and adults but also have a passion for literacy. I am also a children’s book author and illustrator and in 2020 published my first book, Pretty Like Me! Everything that I have accomplished has been by God’s grace and mercy. I am truly a poor girl from West Virginia and should not be where I am today. Not saying that I have done a lot but from where I have come from it is indeed, a miracle. My favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, “That God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Artist Statement

The title of this piece is, “Mystery Stance”. It is a mixed media drawing on 18 x 12 paper. The 4-section composition is a technique I learned in an art class, which I love because it allows me to use different mediums and drawing styles in one piece. The meaning: What gives me the power to stand? It is the love and blood of Jesus Christ. The love that He showed when He died on the cross for us. For that mystery to be known, I stand. What gives me the power to stand? It is the love and blood of Jesus Christ. The love that He showed when He died on the cross for us. For that mystery to be known, I stand.

How it fits into contest

In Ephesians 6:19, the Apostle Paul speaks of the “mystery of the gospel”. For that mystery, I stand in a position, armored, and prepared for battle. It is the Love of Christ, His dying on the cross, the shedding of His blood, the whole mystery of it all, on dark days and colorful days, that keeps me, in God's Word, fighting, standing, that I may “fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel”. To let others, know about the love of Christ.
