Artist Statement

I've gone through tragedies, difficulties in my life and am still struggling. I did this painting to show loneliness, perseverance, faith, submission, and hope.

How it fits into contest

A family member passed away in a pickup truck accident when I was pretty young. I was regarded as something inauspicious and was bullied by people. I cried in the beginning and then stopped crying. My heart started bleeding by the cruelty of reality.

I became lonely and tried to seek something spiritually to comfort myself. I went to the temple finding nothing but the statures of Buddhas and silent beautiful environment.

I went to a church 21 years ago and was told about Jesus Christ our savior. I read the Bible and learned a lot of teachings in the church. We people were made by holy GOD. We are not from gorillas. All people are sinners. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. Whoever believes in the Lord will be saved and will have eternal life. I was baptized and became a Christian and began to spread gospels to my family, relatives, and old classmates.

Many troubles and problems continue to exist in my life. I pray to GOD when I feel overwhelmed. "He is my refuge and my fortress. My GOD, in whom I trust." - Psalm 91:2. "Therefore submit to GOD. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7. "We know that we are children of GOD and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." - John 5:19. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but ...... against the powers of this dark world. Therefore put on the full armor of GOD. So that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." - Ephesians 6:12-13. etc. The Bible verses give me encouragement and strength to keep going on.

The rain that looks like arrows symbolizes hardship. I did this painting to show loneliness, perseverance, faith, submission, and hope.
