The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” This is my backdrop, the unseen realm. For it is where the triumphant Christ is seated and in whose strength we plea for and fight from in this spiritual battle, both day and night until Christ returns.

The theme of Ephesians is the unveiling of the mystery of God’s will, which is the uniting of all things in heaven and on earth in Christ. There are six television screens (one short of seven-the complete number) which represent the discord and division the enemy seeks to normalize through lies.

We must take heed to God and take up our Christ-given armor and put it on “so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Therefore, pray for His grace to put off falsehood and put on the belt of truth; pray for His grace to “put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,” and put on the breastplate of righteousness & the helmet of salvation; pray for His grace to lift your shield of faith and defend yourself from the fear that Satan attempts to paralyze us with; pray for His grace to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God” with the sword of the Spirit and pray for His grace to put on your shoes of Gospel peace and preach to yourself, your family, your community and the nations the good news!

God spoke into existence day and night. God conquered darkness and death through the rising of his Son. God promised an offspring more than could be counted in the starry sky. It is by the greatness of His might, that we “stand against the schemes of the devil” and are brought into the joy of His triumph. Behold, the Lord our God, and bless His name!
